Gonic firearms store damaged by fire will reopen in Rochester

The owner of a Gonic firearms store, Ernie Shipman, has been worried about the future after his business was damaged by a six-alarm fire.

But thanks to the support of the community, new doors have opened for Renaissance Firearms at 55 Calef Highway in Rochester - its new location.

The new building is larger than the one in Gonic and Shipman says he’s glad to be open again.

Renaissance Firearms will hold its grand re-opening on Friday.

An adjacent restaurant and apartment building were completely destroyed in the same fire, displacing 12 residents.
