Goffstown police say teen was not tripped by clown on Halloween

GOFFSTOWN — A police investigation found that a clown did not trip a teen trick-or-treater on Halloween.

A teen claimed that while trick-or-treating on Temple Court near Elm Street, a clown scraping a shovel scared her and tripped her as she ran away, police said.

Police found that the clown was apart of a Halloween demonstration that a house on Temple Court puts on every year.

At least two clowns were apart of the demonstration, one which had a shovel, but these clowns did not leave the yard, police said. The clowns are professional actors who do not chase people down, but may quietly go up to trick-or-treaters as they approach the home.

Police reported receiving inconsistent stories between the teen who claimed the clown tripped her, and her friend who said the teen was actually chased by the clown. Police were able to determine through the investigation that neither of these incidents occurred, and the girl probably tripped on her own due to the older walkway after being scared by the clown.
