GOFFSTOWN - A man charged with accidentally shooting his brother and critically injuring him last month has died.
According to family Facebook pages, Timothy Beard died last week. The circumstances of his death were not directly revealed.
Beard, 23, was charged with felony second-degree assault and reckless conduct for reportedly shooting his 21-year-old brother Christian Beard April 11 while playing video games at Timothy's apartment. According to police, the two brothers started talking about about a 9 mm semi-automatic handgun on the table and zombies, police said. Timothy Beard allegedly picked up the weapon and pointed it at his brother and the gun discharged. Witnesses told police they believe the shooting was accidental.
Court documents reveal the conversation at the scene, where police note that Timothy was visibly upset and emotional.
"How am I not under arrest I (explicative) shot my brother," Timothy said to police. "I didn’t think the thing was loaded."
Christian Beard was released from the hospital and is recovering from his injuries.
