Gilford man accused of raping his girlfriend with 3-year-old child in the room
LACONIA - A grand jury has indicted a Gilford man after he was accused of raping his former girlfriend while her 3-year-old child was in the room.
According to the Laconia Daily Sun, Carroll R. Thompson, 44 of Gilford was charged with two counts of aggravated felonious sexual assault or forcible rape, for allegedly holding down his former girlfriend at their home of 2652 Lake Shore Rd. on Jan. 20. Thompson's former girlfriend also accused him of physically forcing her to have sex with him while her 3-year-old child was in the room.
According to court documents and a testimony, the woman told police that she and her daughter were preparing to move to a different location when the attack happened.
When police responded to the home they took the child to a neighbor's house. Police said that the neighbors reported that they heard noises consistent with what the woman said happened.
Court documents also showed that Thompson and his former girlfriend had been methamphetamine users and that she had stopped using in December 2015, while Thompson has allegedly continued.
Thompson is being held on $60,000 cash-only bail.
