Get out the vote efforts, often abbreviated as GOTV, typically require a group of dedicated volunteers who are willing to make phone calls to likely supporters on voting day to remind them to vote and to offer them a ride to the polls if they need one.
Voter turnout in the U.S. means that millions, MILLIONS of eligible voters are choosing to stay home, and if they support you, you need to make sure they vote!
Here's the percentage of those voting in the last four presidential elections. The percentage who vote in primaries are even smaller.
In 2000, 54.2 percent of eligible citizens (62.7 percent in NH)
In 2004, 60.4 percent of eligible citizens (71.7 percent in NH)
In 2008, 62.3 percent of eligible citizens (72.3 percent in NH)
In 2012, 57.5 percent of eligible citizens (68.6 percent in NH)
Get-out-the-vote efforts are important but you need to do more.
