Gerrard headed for MLS after English season ends

The Associated Press

LONDON (AP) Steven Gerrard is set to continue his career in Major League Soccer after Liverpool said its longtime captain will move to the United States when the Premier League season is over.

The 34-year-old Gerrard announced Friday that he will leave Liverpool when his contract expires this summer, but that he will continue playing abroad.

Liverpool said on its official Twitter account Saturday that Gerrard "confirms he will move to the USA this summer."

Liverpool did not say which club the former England captain will play for, but was set to air an interview with the midfielder later Saturday on its in-house TV channel.
