Funeral home ad on gate of cancer treatment center eye of social media storm

A funeral home's ad located at the main entrance of a cancer treatment hospital is drawing the ire of many through the power of social media.

Royal Victoria Regional Health Center for Cancer Treatment - located in Ontario, Canada - had a large sign close to their entrance that read, "Adams Funeral Home and Cremation Services Ltd. Caring | Compassionate | Professional."

This sign was seen as hurtful and discouraging to the many cancer patients who drive in and out of that center everyday, and Lori Waltenbury took a stand on Facebook, according to the Washington Post.

Waltenbury, whose father and aunt had been diagnosed with cancer, shared her anger through social media and created large waves. The hospital and the funeral home both made public apologies, and the sign was removed from the gate.

Waltenbury said they are considering a crowdfunding campaign to put up a new sign on the entry gate near the cancer center. She said she hasn't worked out exactly what it would say, but it would be something along the lines of "You matter. Keep fighting."
