Free HIV testing at Keene State College in recognition of World Aids Day

KEENE - It's a day meant to raise awareness about aids. In recognition of the day, at Keene State College free HIV testing was available to students. Dozens were tested with a rapid saliva test that takes just 20 minutes to get the results.

Althought there has been a lot of progress made in fighting the disease in the last two decades -
going from a deadly disease to now a chronic disease managed through medication - but there are still 34-million-people suffering from HIV/AIDS in the world.

Keene State College purchased 50 rapid HIV tests at $30 each. In a two hour period, 30 tests were administered. The remaining tests are available for students at the school's Health and Wellness Center, and they are free to students.
