Former Seabrook officer sentenced to 21 days in jail for slamming teen's head into concrete

BRENTWOOD - The former Seabrook police officer convicted of slamming a 19-year-old's head into a concrete wall, has been sentenced to 21 days in jail.

According to the Union Leader, Mark Richardson, 40, of Newbury, was taken to jail following the sentencing hearing Thursday.

Surveillance footage captured Richardson slamming Michael Bergeron's head into the wall while he was being escorted to a holding cell in Nov. 2009.

Richardson claimed he did not intentionally hit the teenager's head into the wall but that he was using a defensive move but lost control because of Bergeron's swinging.

Richardson, along with another officer, was terminated following an investigation into the incident.
