PORTSMOUTH - The Seacoast lost a political icon Monday morning with the passing of 97-year-old, former Portsmouth mayor Eileen Foley.
United States Sen. Jeanne Shaheen remembers a treasured tip Foley gave her.
"One of the pieces of advice she gave me is she said 'you know I always used to practice my speeches on the ride into Concord,'" Shaheen said.
Eileen Foley was mayor for eight terms and became known as a big ambassador who signed sister- city agreements with communities in Japan, Ireland and England.
