Former Phillips Exeter teacher facing sexual misconduct allegations turned himself in
EXETER — Police Chief William Shupe reported on Friday that a former employee of Phillips Exeter Academy turned himself into police to face charges in connection with sexual assault allegations that were made by a former student.
Arthur Peekel, 74, of Platine, IL, was arrested and charged with two counts of sexual assault. He posed bail of $25,000 personal recognizance on the condition that he surrenders his passport, signs a waiver of extradition and has no contact with minors.
He is scheduled to be arraigned on July 5, 2016.
The Exeter Police are trying to keep members of the public informed about the progress of investigations into other sexual misconduct allegations at Phillips Exeter Academy.
Other cases remain open with an ongoing investigation.
