Former Pembroke Academy official indicted on drug charges

CONCORD - A former high school administrator at Pembroke Academy has been indicted on drug charges after police said she was found with fentanyl and the steroid testosterone propionate at the school in February.

The Merrimack County Superior Court grand jury indicted Rekha Luther, of 212 Lakeside Drive, Manchester, on two felony counts of possession of a narcotic and two so-called "enhanced felonies" for possession of narcotics in a safe school zone.

Police had conducted a search at the school on Feb. 17, finding steroids in her vehicle and what appeared to be heroin inside her unlocked office.

Parents first heard of the incident through media reports on April 2, leading to widespread concern about the school and police failing to notify the community immediately following the arrest.
