KEENE - A local woman, whose parents continue to live in the area, is among the 21 people injured in the mass shooting in San Bernadino, Calif.
According to the Keene Sentinel, Amanda H. Gaspard, 31, worked as a health education specialist for the San Bernadino Health Department, having moved to the area in 2012.
She had previously worked at Cheshire Medical Center from 2009 to 2012, according to hospital spokeswoman Sandie Phipps.
Her father, Kenneth Gaspard, is the director of surgical services at Cheshire Medical Center/Dartmouth-Hitchcock Keene.
Gaspard and his wife Diane flew to California immediately after the shooting.
In a statement left on Diane's Facebook she thanked everyone for the support and asked for prayers.
"Thank you so much for asking for prayers for our daughter, Amanda Gaspard," the post read. "We are on our way to CA to be with her. One of her first comments to us was that somehow this situation could be used to witness for the Lord. Her faith is so strong. She was praying with other victims while she was lying there bleeding. We Praise God for sparing her life."
The Sentinel says sources, who asked not to be identified, said Amanda Gaspard was one of those shot Wednesday at the holiday party at the Inland Regional Center.
Her condition Thursday was not immediately known.
Hospital officials at Cheshire Medical Center released a statement in response to the tragedy.
“All of us at Cheshire Medical Center/Dartmouth-Hitchcock Keene are keeping Amanda, her dad Ken and mom Diane and family, and all of the other victims in our thoughts and prayers," the statement reads.
Police identified the shooters in San Bernardino as Syed Rizwan Farook, 28, and his wife Tashfeen Malik, 27. Authorities said 14 people were killed and 17 wounded before the pair were killed in a shootout with police.
