Flour recall: Tips for homeowners as major brands may contain E.coli

Flour, it is one of those ingredients most of us keep in our cabinets, but if you have General Mills flour, throwing it away is a good idea.

The E.coli-tainted flour has made more than 46 people sick. The brands to watch out for include Gold Medal, Wondra and Signature Kitchens.

Officials have advised consumers to stop making homemade play dough for kids and to not taste cookie or cake batter before cooking.

They also said restaurants and bakeries need to wash utensils after working with flour to prevent cross contamination.
