Flipped truck closes I-93 N near Windham wreaking havoc on morning commute


WINDHAM - A rollover accident on Interstate 93 North near Windham on Tuesday morning made the morning commute a nightmare.

Drivers were asked to avoid Exit 3 because of a serious crash involving a large white box truck. and a vehicle at about 5 a.m.

Police say the driver of the truck, Joseph Vachereau, 29 of Manchester, fell asleep at the wheel, hit a guardrail, swerved and was hit by a Subaru.

The truck subsequently rolled over onto its side, blocking all the northbound lanes.

It also began leaking diesel fuel causing delays in the cleanup effort.

The two people in the Subaru were treated for non-life threatening injuries.

I-93 was closed from Exits 3 to 4 for about three hours. Traffic was open again at 8:30 a.m.
