Flatbed truck hits light pole in Nashua parking lot and spews 30 gallons of diesel

NASHUA - A flatbed truck struck a light pole in the parking lot of Lowe's Saturday resulting in a large diesel spill into two sewer grates.

Nashua Fire and Rescue officials said the truck owned by Lowe's hit the pole about 9:30 a.m. and damaged the driver's side saddle fuel tank. The fuel began to travel downhill into two connecting sewer grates.

Firefighters began to dike the sewers and put up booms and absorbent pads to help contain the fuel. Fire officials said approximately 30 gallons spilled from the damaged fuel tank.

The store brought in a hazardous materials clean-up company and it is investigating the accident.
