Flags to fly at half-staff in Army Ranger's honor

The Associated Press

CONCORD — Gov. Maggie Hassan is directing flags to fly at half-staff in New Hampshire on Saturday in honor of an Army Ranger who died after he was injured during a training exercise in southeast Georgia.

The Army said that 21-year-old Cpl. Andrew Aimesbury was training with his squad at Fort Stewart last week when he was "seriously wounded during a live-fire exercise." The Army is investigating his death.

Hassan said Aimesbury, of Strafford "exemplified New Hampshire's strong tradition of service, bravely defending our nation and our freedom."

The Army says Aimesbury joined the Rangers in September 2013 and served one tour in Afghanistan.
