Fishing season opens on NH's large lakes

The Associated Press

CONCORD (AP) - Fishing season is open for trout and salmon on New Hampshire's largest lakes.

Today marks the start of the season for anglers on 14 lakes managed by New Hampshire Fish and Game for landlocked salmon and lake trout and rainbow trout — including Winnipesaukee, Newfound, Sunapee, Ossipee and the First and Second Connecticut Lakes.

Fish and Game officials last month reminded anglers that fishing season doesn't open until April 1, after record early ice-out dates on some of the state's larger lakes, including Winnipesaukee, made the season appear at hand.

Officials also announced the Wellington State Park boat ramp on Newfound Lake reopened after extensive repairs to remedy unsafe conditions.
