CONCORD – The New Hampshire GOP raised more than $200,000 from their recent two-day First-in-the-Nation Leadership Summit, which attracted nearly 20 Republican presidential candidates and contenders.
But state Democrats say they’ll top that impressive fundraising haul on Sunday, when House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi headlines the state party’s annual McIntyre-Shaheen 100 Club Dinner, a source with knowledge of the event tells NH1 News.
And the NHDP expects some 600 people to attend the fundraising dinner, which will take place at the Radisson Hotel in Manchester.
Besides Pelosi, Sen. Jeanne Shaheen, Gov. Maggie Hassan, and Rep. Annie Kuster will also speak at the dinner. Kuster will introduce Pelosi, who was House Speaker from 2007-2011, the first woman to serve as speaker.
The dinner, named for Shaheen and the late Sen. Tom McIntyre, is one two annual major state Democratic fundraising events. Last October, former President Bill Clinton headlined the other event, the annual Jefferson-Jackson dinner, which was also held at the Radisson.
Vermont Gov. Peter Shumlin headlined last year’s McIntyre-Shaheen dinner. The event was first held in 1959, when it was just known as the 100 Club Dinner.
