First on NH1 News: Guinta to hold jobs fair
CONCORD - Rep. Frank Guinta will announce Tuesday that he's holding what's being described as "the first Job Fair for Granite State veterans and service members looking for employment," NH1 News has learned.
According to a release obtained by NH1 News, the GOP lawmaker who represents the state's 1st Congressional District will hold a jobs fair next Friday, April 10, from 10am to 2pm at Great Bay Community College in Portsmouth. Guinta's office says veterans will have the chance to attend workshops on resume writing and interview techniques and to speak with representatives from various companies. They will also be able to apply for new positions and talk with the congressman and members of his staff.
"In New Hampshire, we have one of the highest veterans' populations in the nation. We know all too well the challenges our servicemen and women face during their transition into civilian life. Unfortunately, one of the hardest challenges remains finding a good-paying job upon returning home," Guinta said in a statement.
"Our veterans are some of the brightest and most dedicated employees out there; and, we owe it to them to help smooth their transition, which is why I'm hosting this Job Fair for our veterans and military service members to attend," Guinta added.
Among the more than 20 local businesses expected to participate in the jobs fair are Service Credit Union, UPS, Walmart, Portsmouth Naval Shipyard, UN Police Department, Kelly Services, Great Bay Community College, Foss Manufacturing Company, Sig Sauer, and Adecco.
Guinta's office says the event is open to all New Hampshire active military, National Guard, Reserve, Veterans and their families. They add that there's no cost to participate in the fair and parking is free.
Constituents or employers wishing to participate are encouraged to call the Manchester office at (603) 641-9536 with further questions.
