PORTSMOUTH – U.S. Rep. Frank Guinta Thursday announced the names of another 50 grassroots supporters backing him as he runs for re-election in New Hampshire’s 1st Congressional District.

Guinta announced a list of 100 supporters in April.

"These men and women are leaders in our community. They are strong advocates for veterans, our military, and limited Constitutional government, who have placed their trust in me," the Republican congressman said in a statement.

"In Congress, I've worked hard to make our ideas become a reality. I plan on returning that trust 100 fold next year," he added.

In a statement, his campaign highlighted that as Manchester mayor, Guinta cut taxes and balanced the budget of New Hampshire’s largest city.

The two-term Republican congressman from Manchester is running for re-election this year. He faces a serious primary challenge from Bedford businessman and 2010 congressional candidate Rich Ashooh.

The winner of the September 13 GOP primary will face off in November against either former Democratic U.S. Rep. Carol Shea-Porter or first time candidate and Bedford businessman Shawn O’Connor.

New Hampshire's 1st CD is one of the most closely watched swing districts in the country.
