First on NH1 News: Cruz to keynote Young Republicans Convention
CONCORD - Sen. Ted Cruz has an extra role at next month's First in the Nation Republican Leadership Summit
NH1 News learned Tuesday that the Republican from Texas will not only speak at the major gathering of likely GOP 2016 presidential contenders that's being organized by the New Hampshire GOP, he's also going to give the keynote address to the Young Republicans Convention that's being held at the same location.
Here's how it will work. Early on Saturday afternoon, April 18, Cruz will speak at the summit, which is the first major cattle call in the Granite State of GOP presidential contenders. The event is being held Friday and Saturday at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Nashua. At 4pm that Saturday, Cruz will keynote the Young Republicans Convention, which is at a different venue at the hotel.
Cruz, who last week became the first big name of either of the two major political parties to officially launch a presidential campaign, was invited by the Young Republicans to headline their event.
Besides the speech by Cruz, Young Republicans will elect officers for the next two year cycle.
Meanwhile, NH1 also learned that veteran pollster and political consultant Frank Luntz will run a live focus group at the Leadership Summit that Saturday morning.
