Firefighters still at the scene of a fire at a NH manufacturing facility

MERRIMACK— The scene is under control at St. Gobain Performance Plastics in Merrimack after firefighters responded Monday morning for a reported fire in the building.

Reports from the scene indicate firefighters arrived to a call for a fire at the 701 Daniel Webster Highway facility. Initial reports were that there was an explosion and fire.

Merrimack Fire Chief Mike Currier said at the scene Monday the department responded to a "standard alarm."

"Enroute we were told there was a potential fire in some ductwork inside the building from one of the machines," he said. "Crews went to work and extinguished that fire."

Currier said the fire extended to the roof area, but did not spread further.

"Everything is all set," he said. "There were no injuries and minimal damage to the building."

The area of the building where the fire occurred will be closed while the town's fire marshal conducts an investigation. Currier said the rest of the building is "occupiable and they will be back to work today.

No one was injured.

"No hazardous materials were released to my knowledge at this point," Currier said.
