Firefighters save man as apartment building blazes in Maine

BERWICK, Maine - Firefighters responded to a five-alarm fire, pulling one man from the building, early Sunday morning.

The fast-moving fire destroyed a five-unit apartment building at 4 Berwick St.

Everett Rickett Jr. told that firefighters saved his life. He said he doesn't hear well and was unaware of the danger.

The rest of the residents got out safely, but some lost pets in the blaze.

In addition to Berwick, Maine companies on scene included South Berwick, Eliot, Lebanon, North Berwick, York and Kittery. New Hampshire companies responding were Somersworth, Rollinsford, Dover, Rochester, Durham, Newington, Barrington, Madbury, Milton, with station coverage provided by Pease and Sanford, Maine. American Ambulance and York Ambulance were on scene as well.
