Firefighters, DHHS to host Narcan training for community members in Derry

DERRY — A Narcan training event for community members is scheduled to be held at the Derry Friendship Center on 6 Railroad Ave. next Thursday, July 28 at 7 p.m.

The event is a collaboration between the Derry Fire Department and the New Hampshire Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS). It will focus on the proper administration of Narcan, and over 80 attendees are expected.

Since January 2014, 167 overdoses have been reported in Derry.

Derry Fire and DHHS hosted a similar kind of Narcan training event back in June, and officials said it was very successful.
