Fire in Nashua displaces 13 people

NASHUA - A fire at a multi-family apartment building on Cedar Street on Sunday afternoon has displaced 13 people.

Firefighters say the call came in around 3:30 p.m. and they arrived to find heavy fire on the first floor, extending to the second floor of the older wood-frame home.

A search of the building revealed all the residents had made it out. One person suffered facial burns but refused treatment. One firefighter suffered a back injury and was taken to Southern New Hampshire Medical Center.

The fire was quickly extinguished and appears to have started from the kitchen area of a first-floor apartment, firefighters said.

The Red Cross is helping the displaced residents. The fire remains under investigation.
