Fire in Boscawen burns five acres near Walker Pond

BOSCAWEN – A major fire roared through the backwoods near Walker Pond on Friday night and destroyed an estimated five acres of land; no injuries were reported.

The Union leader reports that the Boscawen Fire Department responded around 7 p.m. to a fire in the Walker Pond/Chadwick Hill area of town. It was subsequently upgraded to a four-alarm fire.

Fire Capt. Mike Fisher said the fire was thought be in Webster at different times during the night, but was actually all in Boscawen. Fire crews from several area towns responded to the fire scene Friday night.

The cause is still under investigation.
