Fire destroys Rochester home; 1 person injured

ROCHESTER - A fire at a Shaw Drive residence Tuesday morning injured one person and destroyed the home.

Fire crews from Rochester responded to the Keravich residence at 35 Shaw Drive around 10 a.m. There was heavy smoke and fire on arrival with flames shooting through the roof of the home.

Because the home is at the end of the dead-end road, fire crews had trouble accessing water as the closest fire hydrant was a 1/2 mile away. Tankers were brought in to supply water.

Firefighters said a homeowner working on a car in the garage, where they believe the fire started, had to be taken to Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. His condition was unknown Tuesday night.

Crews from Dover, Somersworth and Milton assisted at the scene.

The fire is currently under investigation.
