Fire destroys Newport home

No one was injured but two dogs perished and a log cabin was destroyed by fire in Newport Thursday.

The Valley News reported that a cause had yet to be determined in the fire on Coon Brook Road that was reported around 1:30, but firefighters were considering a pellet stove as the culprit.

Tough conditions made it difficult to fight the blaze, according to firefighters. The home was completely destroyed.
