Fire causes $70,000 worth of damage to Manchester nail salon


MANCHESTER - A first alarm fire fire causes $70,000.00 worth of damages to a nail salon.

Sunday at approximitely 3:38 p.m. fire fighters repsonded to a call at 47 Martin St. Authorities said arriving crews discovered a fire in the basement of the beauty salon.

Fire fighters put two hoselines into the basement to extinguish the fire and crews entered the ground level floor to search for inhabitants. As crews were searching, one firefighter barely escaped serious injury as he partially slipped into a hole that was burned through the floor from the fire below.

It took crews approximately 25 minutes to fully extinguish the fire, and none of the fire fighters were seriously injured from their experience and training.
