Filing period for the 2016 presidential primary announced

CONCORD - The filing period for the 2016 presidential primary will begin Wednesday, Nov. 4, according to the Secretary of State's office.

This has the filing period starting the day after cities across the state hold their city elections, and it will continue until Friday,
Nov. 20.

The Secretary of State’s office says it will be open from 8 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. on all days except Veterans Day, Nov. 11. The office will remain open until 5 p.m.
on the last day of filing.

All candidates who wish to file on the last day will have to do so in person.

Although it's not been set, all signs point to a Feb. 9 date for our first-in-the-nation primary.

As of Wednesday, the Secretary of State's office reports a total of 872,541 registered voters in New Hampshire, including:

Undeclared – 380,751

Republican – 261,906

Democratic – 229,884
