Father of Epping woman accused of abusing 18-month-old faces charges

BRENTWOOD — The father of an Epping women accused of abusing an 18-month-old boy faces charges after reportedly failing to report the abuse and falsifying physical evidence.

Timothy Castine, 56, has a trial set in February for charges of falsifying physical evidence and failing to report that the child was being abused between March 1 and April 18, the Union Leader reported.

Castine was indicted in August along with his daughter, Jami Castine, who is facing charges of first and second degree assault and seven counts of endangering the welfare of a child for alleged abuse of an 18-month-old boy.

Epping police began investigating on April 8 after emergency crews were called to the home in response to a report that the toddler was having a seizure and losing consciousness.

Doctors determined that the boy was suffering from bleeding on both sides of his brain and had two detached retinas, police said.

The child is in custody of DCYF.

Timothy Castine plead not guilty to all charges and remains free on bail.
