Farewell to beloved Fisher Cats bat dog at last game of the season

MANCHESTER – One of the most beloved members of the NH Fisher Cats has retired.

Ollie The Bat Dog, an 8-year-old golden retriever, worked his last game during Monday's end to the season.

“It’s something that you wouldn’t expect at a baseball game but it’s something that a lot of kids like, including me,” said fan Joey Motroni.

Ollie has been fetching bats for about six seasons but he’s ready to slow down and enjoy time at home like most other dogs.

Ollies owner is also the General Manager of the Fisher Cats. Rick Brenner said about a week ago Ollie told the family he’s “looking forward to more time for walks, long naps and basking in the warm summer sun.”

The Fisher Cats won 3-1 against the Portland Sea Dogs. When asked who would be taking over bat duties in the future, Brenner told NH1 News we will have to wait to see what next season brings.
