Families of victims in 2014 murder-suicide come together to fight mental illness


MANCHESTER — Two families who were touched by the experience of a murder-suicide two years ago have come together to help others better understand the disease that had changed their lives forever.

The family of Taylor Lessard, a woman who was killed by a man who suffered from mental illness in 2014, was remembered in a fundraiser to fight the cause of her death.

The family of both the killer and the victim have mutual sympathy, and came together on Friday night at the Derryfield Country Club for a fundraiser. The proceeds went to Change Direction NH, a program that helps raise awareness about signs of mental illness.

Both families were represented at the event, urging others to learn from their story, and know the signs of mental disease before things go too far.

Family members reported that the event raised a significant sum for the cause.
