Extreme weather conditions delayed rescue of injured Mount Washington hiker

NORTH CONWAY — New Hampshire Fish and Game received a 911 call on Tuesday telling them about an injured woman on the Ammonoosuc Ravine trail on Mount Washington.

The woman was identified as Kathleen M. Maguire, 56, of Antrim. She had a injured ankle and couldn't continue on the mountain.

They splinted her ankle and helped her get to the medical hut. A helicopter was called to transport her but they were unable to fly due to bad weather conditions.

Medical assessment determined that Maguire would stay overnight at the hut and see what the weather was like in the morning. On Wednesday, weather was still bad, so a state park van and other vehicles were able to get to Maguire. She was transported down the mountain for additional medical care.

Weather conditions were extreme during this rescue.
