Expect to see a steady increase in holiday shopping this year in NH

With gas prices down and household finances in better shape, consumers in New Hampshire - and around the nation - are expected to spend more money this holiday season than they did last year.

Forty-eight percent said they plan to spend more during the holidays than they did last year.

According to New Hampshire Business Review “seven out of 10 nationwide and eight out of 10 in New Hampshire will be spending at least as much as they did last year.”

More of that shopping will likely be online.

The accessibility of mobile phones and tablets are responsible for a steady increase of online shopping. Last year almost 30 percent of Americans shopped on these devices. This year, an estimated 44.7 percent of Americans will use their mobile phones or tablets to shop.

Americans have even increased the average time spent on holiday shopping to 12 hours and 42 minutes, which is 37 minutes longer than last year.
