EXETER - New Hampshire is ready for some football with season openers going on all across the state Friday. Tonight in Exeter, the Blue Hawks got their first win of the season as they work toward another championship.
Parents of seniors told NH1 News they can’t believe their last season has begun.
“It’s bittersweet,” said parent David Allen. “It’s been a long time coming up, but it’s great to see them out there as captains. It’s been 12 years of football to get to this point,” Allen said.
“Our kids have been playing together since they were 8 years old, and now we’re here,” said another dad, Phil Christiana.
Home field is typically an advantage for Exeter; their packed stands have seen them go close to undefeated at home since 2012.
Exeter is the last team to win back-to-back titles in 2011 and 2012 and are among the expected contenders for this year’s Division One championship.
Exeter beat Timberlane 14-9.
