Ex-Rochester firefighter and paramedic gets suspended sentence for diverting drugs

ROCHESTER - A former Rochester firefighter and paramedic could serve no time behind bars.

Donald Penney was found guilty of diverting drugs meant for patients, but he received a suspended sentence of one-to-three years in prison on Wednesday.

Penney's former employer testified at the hearing and defended his character.

Penney told the judge he learned his lesson and would not be in court again.
