Ex-NH lawmaker Kyle Tasker wants 2 separate trials for drug, sex charges

BRENTWOOD — Former New Hampshire Rep. Kyle Tasker has allegedly requested to break up his drug and sex charges into two separate trials.

Tasker is scheduled for a May 1 trial on 14 charges stemming from a search of his Nottingham home that turned up a variety of drugs and his online chats with an undercover police officer. Tasker's attorney claims the two trials are completely unrelated, according to The Union Leader.

These charges stem back to when the mother of a 14-year-old girl filed a complaint with police in January, claiming Tasker had been soliciting her daughter for sex through Facebook. He is also accused of asking the girl to perform sexual acts.

Tasker was arrested in March after an investigation lasting several weeks. July's indictment stated Tasker possessed a variety of illegal and controlled substances, including Buprenorphine, Ecstasy, hash oil, marijuana, psychedelic mushrooms and cocaine.

Tasker is being held at the Rockingham County Jail without bail after he was arrested, again, on DWI charges after a three-car crash in Rochester on Gonic Road on Nov. 1. The crash occurred while Tasker was still out on bail for the original charges. He has pleaded not guilty to all of the charges.
