Eversource gears up for possible widespread power outages

BOW - With the state expecting large amounts of rain and heavy winds, people are getting ready for the storm and possible flooding.

At Eversource, they're preparing in their own way. They showed NH1 news a tour of their state warehouse that's home to cables, transformers, generators and much more.

Eversouce keeps all their supplies in Bow where it is distributed to the 15 micro warehouse locations throughout the state.

Utility companies post step-by-step directions to report outages

Today to prepare for the storm and the possibility of losing electricity, they go through inventory and stock all their locations and crews. They also go over an emergency plan for staffing.

In terms of what they use in extreme weather they have 'storm kits' which are pre-made bundles ready for crews to take to make repairs quicker and easier.

They also have brand new box trailers, which are basically a miniature warehouse.

"Everything you need is inside to feel general contract crew," said Hugh Costello of Eversource.

"We can take that material remotely so we keep them out of the work centers, clogging up with work centers and we can service them right from there."

It's the preparation before the storm before the power outages that makes all the difference.
