Evacuation ordered as heavy rains hit California

The Associated Press

LOS ANGELES (AP) Heavy rain is falling in parts of California and authorities have ordered evacuation of about a dozen homes due to mud flows 50 miles northwest of Los Angeles.

Ventura County fire Capt. Scott Dettore said Tuesday that the homes in Camarillo Springs are in an area that burned in a wildfire more than a year ago.

The same neighborhood experienced flooding and mudflows from heavy rains earlier this year as well.

A Pacific storm is moving into drought-stricken California bringing much-needed moisture but fears of mudflows on wildfire-scarred hillsides.
