Escaped inmate David Ward arrested in Vermont

Vernon, Vt. - Escaped inmate David Ward of Keene was arrested by Vermont State Police in Vernon, Vt. on Friday night.

Ward was reported missing on Monday when he failed to return to the Camulet Halfway House in Manchester, a minimum-securty facility.

Ward was considered by authorities to be a danger to law enforcement and the general public.

Upon Ward's apprehension, police found that he was armed with a .38 caliber hand gun that had been reported stolen in Swanzey.

Ward was serving a four to eight year sentence for reckless conduct that began in January of 2011. Ward would have been eligible for parole in May of 2015.

Three others have been charged in assisting Ward's evasion of law enforcement.
