MANCHESTER — The Elliot Hospital Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) will be closing effective May 20.
However, the hospital said it will continue to provide inpatient pediatric care and that the Newborn Intensive Care Unit is not impacted by this decision and will remain open to support the needs of premature and/or critically ill newborns.
Elliot also said the volume of patients has been consistently low in the PICU - averaging less than two patients per day over the last 12 months.
