Easterseals NH child ambassador's dream comes true after riding in Eversource bucket truck

BEDFORD — With a hard hat on and a harness attached, Elliot Perry soared into the sky thanks to a bucket truck provided by Eversource.

Perry, an Easterseals child ambassador, visited Eversource's Enterprise Operations Leadership meeting Thursday morning, asking Eversource New Hampshire's President Bill Quinlan to make one of his dreams come true.

"He talked about the importance of Easterseals. He talked about the importance of electricity in his life and he had an ask, and his ask was he wanted to ride in a bucket truck, and after that performance that he gave, there was no way we could not do this for him," said Joseph Purington, Vice President of Electric Operations at Eversource.

Eversource made arrangements to get the appropriate equipment to Perry's house that afternoon.

Perry asked plenty of questions before taking off, making sure he was fully equipped before an employee hoisted the bucket into the air.

It didn't take long before Perry wanted to know how high the bucket could go, requesting that he be raised the maximum height of 55-feet.

"Where’s the ground going?" Perry joked.

While up in the air, Perry got to inspect his roof, wave over to his neighbors house and see the Manchester skyline.

After about 20 minutes of enjoying the bucket, Perry came down to check out the rest of the truck, telling his parents and members of Easterseals and Eversource how cool that experience was.

"It’s truly one of the most amazing gestures on top of an organization that already does so much for Easterseals and children like my son," said Perry's father, B.J. Perry.

Doctor's diagnosed Perry's mother with preeclampsia before Perry's birth, a high blood pressure which can affect both the mother and unborn child. This caused Perry to be born early, weighing only 1 pound, 9 ounces.

Perry has worked with Easterseals his whole life after his premature birth left him with developmental disabilities.

Eversource and Easterseals will be hosting their 18th annual walk and 5K run on June 1 at Veterans Park on Elm Street in Manchester. The walk helps to support people with disabilities and special needs. Click here to sign up.
