East Rochester man faces drug charges after police say they found him passed out in his car
ROCHESTER - An East Rochester man faces drug charges after police say they found him passed out in the driver's seat of a car on South Main Street.
Police say they received a report of someone who appeared to be unconscious hanging out the driver's side of a car parked in a parking lot at 77 South Main St. around 2:30 a.m. Friday.
Police say they found Michael Polchies, 35, of 7 Salmon Falls Estates, in the car -- along with packages of what appeared to be illegal drugs and a loaded handgun under his leg. Polchies was taken to Frisbie Memorial Hospital for treatment.
A search was later conducted of his vehicle, leading to multiple charges including possession of narcotics with intent to distribute, receiving stolen property, resisting arrest, carrying a loaded gun without a license and being an armed career criminal and felon in possession of a gun.
Police say Polchies also had an active arrest warrant from NH Probation and Parole.
Police seized what is believed to be clonazepam, heroin and cocaine from the vehicle, along with $2,429 in cash. The handgun was determined to be stolen previously.
Polchies was held at Strafford County jail on $100,000 cash bail and is scheduled for arraignment on Monday June 27 in Strafford County Superior Court.
