Dry leaves, high winds help spread backyard fire; 2 acres of brush burned in Gilford
GILFORD — About two acres of brush were consumed by a one-alarm fire after the land owner had a permitted fire beforehand on Friday, according to the fire chief.
A neighbor reported a building fire in the area of 714 Belknap Mountain Road in Gilford. Upon the arrival of Gilford and Laconia Fire Deparments, the fire was determined to be behind the home and involved a large area of brush, not the building.
Officials stretched hose lines from the driveway of the home, while responding firefighters began extinguishing the fire from there.
According to the chief, the dry leaves and strong winds contributed to the spread of the fire.
There were no injuries and no damage to any buildings or vehicles.
