Driver knocks out power to southeastern section of Dover on Friday


DOVER - A driver charged with drunken driving is blamed for knocking out power to 157 customers on Friday afternoon after he hit a utility pole on Back Road.

According to police, Jeffrey J. Polizzo, 41, knocked down the pole in a collision that occurred around 1 p.m. The power outage extend to Henry Law Avenue and related streets in the southeastern part of the city.

Police say Eversource is responding and expected restoration of electricity would take several hours.

Polizzo was charged with drinking while intoxicated and released on $1,500 personal recognizance bail and is expected to appear in court on Jan. 25.
