Driver in Boston tunnel accident says, 'I just shut my eyes for a second'
BOSTON- A driver admitted to a Boston television station that he dozed off before running in to a school bus, causing an early morning accident that snarled traffic in the O'Neill Tunnel.
Commuters were stuck for hours after the morning wreck that blocked the southbound lanes of I-93 for several miles.
Thomas Wells, 52, of Saugus, Mass., told reporter Kathryn Burcham of FOX25 News in Boston, "What can I say, I dozed off." Photos of the accident and aftermath show the empty school bus blocking the highway inside the tunnel.
A police investigation has yet to officially determine a cause of the accident but Wells will be cited.
