Driver hung up on embankment rescued by Hanover fire department's ladder truck


LEBANON - The Hanover fire department's ladder truck was called in to rescue a driver whose car had gotten hung up on an embankment beside a fast moving stream.

The driver had crashed into the woods between exits 17 and 16 on Interstate 89 almost nine hours before he was discovered and he was extremely cold. Lebanon and Hanover fire departments worked together to coordinate the rescue and extrication.

Hanover's town ladder truck was used to complete the rescue and the victim was then transported to Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center. Information about his identify and condition were not immediately available.
