Driver dies in Wakefield accident involving Secret Service

WAKEFIELD, N.H. — According to authorities, a man was killed when the car he was driving crossed the center line and hit another car head-on carrying four on-duty Secret Service agents in Wakefield.

Police said that Bruce Danforth, 45, was driving a Mercury Sable north on Route 16 over Wakefield Hill around 7 p.m. Tuesday night. Danforth's vehicle crossed the center line and collided with a Ford Taurus that was carrying four on-duty Secret Service agents.

Danforth died at the scene and his passengers, Natasha Meroski, 35, and Kristina Buswell, 21, were taken to Frisbee Memorial Hospital and Huggins Hospital to be treated. The Secret Service Agents were also taken to Frisbee Memorial Hospital to be treated for serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
